Book Review: The Tao Of Motherhood By Vimala McClure

I recently received a copy of the 20th Anniversary Edition of The Tao Of Motherhood by Vimala McClure to review.

The Tao Of Motherhood was written by the author when she discovered that she wasn't going to have the same level of stillness and quiet she was used to when she meditated daily - instead, chaos would take over. (It's the opposite here... it started out calmly, and the further along we go, the more chaos reigns supreme! lol) Her desire to remain connected spiritually even throughout the craziness of being a new parent brought about the book. The Tao Of Motherhood contains 81 short pieces of wisdom that are only about a page or two, making it easy (OK, easier) to read as YOU find your way throughout the daily chaos in your life too. From topics such as awareness to anger to knowledge, there is sure to be a topic to bring inspiration and calmness into your life. I suggest reading one little "pearl of wisdom" a day, in short "me" time you may manage to grab - maybe before bed, maybe just locking yourself in the bathroom for a few short minutes. The beauty of this little book is that it's wonderful for both new mothers and those who have been around the block a few times, and even those with teenagers (who may need it the most some days!) and those with children out of the home.

?Strive for clarity in your own life. What motivates your feelings? We often live out the past over and over in our relationships. We sometimes fail to see the real child, for we have superimposed our own pain upon children.?

I found the wisdom in #41, "listening" to be especially true, as the author points out that "What is right for each child may not be right for all children". Here, here! With Mother's Day on the horizon, this could make a good gift - even if for yourself!

The 20th Anniversary Edition of The Tao Of Motherhood by Vimala McClure is a parenting paperback published by New World Library. 148 pages long (including bibliography), the suggested cover price at your local favorite bookstore is $14.95, though Amazon has it available for $10.17. It is also available as a download for Kindle and other e-readers.

I received a copy of this book in order to share my thoughts on it. All opinions are my own.
